The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail application of Sachin Yadav in a case involving allegations of uploading obscene videos and photographs of a woman on Facebook and blackmailing her for Rs. 2 lakh.
Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal passed the order on 12 October 2026 in Criminal Misc. Bail Application No. 33570 of 2025. The case was registered as Case Crime No. 373 of 2024 at Maharajganj Police Station in Azamgarh district under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.
The applicant’s counsel argued that he had been falsely implicated, had no criminal history and had been in jail since 1 March 2025. The State opposed bail, relying on a Cyber Cell report and evidence that allegedly linked him to a fake Facebook account.
Cyber Cell report considered
According to the prosecution, the applicant created a fake Facebook account in the name of Rakesh Yadav on 8 September 2024 and uploaded the woman’s obscene videos and photographs. The allegations stated that the applicant had threatened to circulate the material after the woman refused to pay Rs. 2 lakh.
After considering the submissions and the Cyber Cell report, the court declined to grant bail and rejected the application.
Police officials pulled up over non-compliance
The court also dealt with the failure to execute a non-bailable warrant against investigating officer Vinay Kumar Mishra. Senior Superintendent of Police, Azamgarh, Dr. Anil Kumar-II, informed the court that a preliminary inquiry had found negligence on the part of Sub-Inspector Subhash Singh and the Station House Officer of Maharajganj Police Station. Show-cause notices had been issued to both.
The court closed the matter concerning the SSP without further orders, while expecting greater care in executing warrants issued by the High Court.
PRO ordered into custody
The court took serious note of allegations that SSP’s Public Relations Officer, Rajesh Kumar Singh, had misbehaved with Additional Government Advocate Anurag Pandey while the latter was communicating a court order.
The court directed that the PRO be taken into custody until 5 pm on the day of the order, after which he was to be released. It also directed the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, to issue a circular warning police officers that misbehaviour with State Law Officers communicating court orders for compliance could amount to contempt of court.
