कोई भी पुलिस अधिकारी या कर्मचारी किसी वाहन के बिना स्वीकृति के चाबी को नहीं निकाल सकता है। अगर कोई व्यक्ति इस तरह के कार्य को करता है, तो उसे धारा 379 (चोरी), 403 (गैरअधिकृत वाहन का उपयोग करना), या 406 (विश्वासघात) जैसी धाराओं के तहत कार्रवाई की जा सकती है। धारा 379 भारतीय दंड संहिता के तहत चोरी से संबंधित है जो अनधिकृत ढंग से खोले बिना किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति के माल को चुरा लेने को कहता है। धारा 403 अनधिकृत वाहन का उपयोग करने से संबंधित है और यह किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति के वाहन के बिना स्वीकृति के उपयोग करने को कहता है। धारा 406 विश्वासघात से संबंधित है जो किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति के माल को संपत्ति या विश्वास के साथ संभालने के लिए दिया गया है और फिर उस माल के साथ धोखाधड़ी कर दिया जाता है। इसलिए, किसी भी व्यक्ति को अपने वाहन की चाबी साथ रखने की सलाह दी जाती है ताकि कोई भी अनधिकृत ढंग से इस्तेमाल ना कर सके
